Pros and Cons-Pentax Optio WP

Strengths: *Small, sleek profile allows it to be carried easily at all times. *Large LCD viewing screen. *Waterproof design allows use during rain, snow, etc. *Uses SD media.

Weakness: *Glass lens cover cracks easily-comments below. *No optical viewfinder-hard to see image in sunlight. *Only 2 aperatures-limited depth of field. *Long delay at start-up/between shots. *Flash weak.

Bought this new in Sept. 2005. I like the size and it is fairly easy to use the menu system. I bought a 1 GB memory card, which allows from 300-6000 pictures per card. The battery is a proprietary type, very small and runs out fast once down to half charge. Maybe 80 pics per charge, so have a spare handy. Charging takes maybe 2 hours. The LCD is great for accurate framing but is almost impossible...

Pentax WP 5MP

Strengths: Small, slick, sexy, waterproof! Panorma mode

Weakness: Can't go deeper than 1.5 meters, screen resolution not terrific (but not horrible)

Okay, so this camera is HOT. I don't understand why it's not sold at bigger retail stores. I've only been using it for just over 2 days, but i've experimented with hit just so I could see if it was really what it was advertised as. Passed: -Dropped in kitchen sink full of water for 20 minutes -took picture of dirty food at bottom of kitchen sink 5MP is plenty, 3 Opt. zoom is plenty, etc. etc....

Terrible for bright outdoor activities

Strengths: Small, light weight, waterproof, great quality photos.

Weakness: No optical viewfinder, short battery life, menus are not the easiest to figure out.

It is a nice camera but didn’t work for the main activities I bought it for. It worked fine for indoor photos and normal outdoor settings. At first I was very excited that I bought this camera but that was before I realized it didn’t have an optical viewfinder. By the time I realized this it was too late to return my camera for a full refund. Not sure why Pentax doesn't put optical...

Good Small Waterproof Camera

Strengths: Size, Weight, Battery lasts a good long time, waterproof feature nice if you mess up and drop it

Weakness: I wish it had an optical viewfinder so that I could take pictures like a normal camera and save on the battery.

This camera is my second digital which makes it my main one for size reasons next to my olympus 700 ultra zoom. This camera is meant for is compactness and I chose it over the olympus stylus line because it was smaller and waterproof, not just water resistant. Overall, I like it and the pictures it takes. I can't wait to have this more available for my outdoor activities.

Third digital camera - replaced Canon S30

Strengths: Very waterproof, fast boot up, long battery life, switches back to photo from replay quick, 5meg, video, mic, ext speaker, easy to read display underwater, easy to use buttons, worth $300!

Weakness: Autoflash not best at night, no view finder, battery not keyed (can put in backwards), should come with simple lanyard for neck and a case to protect the lens.

I bought this while on vacation in Hawaii last week and am really pleased. I am replacing my Canon S30 that I dropped -the metal body is not very forgiving, but I think some of the pictures are comparable in quality. Rated at 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes, I found a small amount of moisture entering the battery pack area after snorkeling for over 2 hours and at times up to 15 feet deep. It took...

Great sport camera for the money

Strengths: Price, waterproof, SD, fast boot up, lots of adjustments, long battery life

Weakness: No lens protection possible, LCD viewfinder only

It's hard to see the LCD when you want to use this camera most, which is at the beach, pool, or other bright outdoor areas, and there is no viewfinder past that. The lens cannot be protected, which is a bit worrisome, but I guess there's no workaround if you want waterproofing. Other than that, I paid under around $270 for this camera at buydig.com, and it's well worth it! (Don't forget you'll...

Good all-weather digital camera

Strengths: Waterproof, 5MP, SD media

Weakness: No view finder, No remote support, Plastic construction, no lens protection

Got this to replace my existing Optio S4 camera, this is a bit bigger and has plastic casing while the S4 was all metal. Something I am willing to give up for the waterproof feature. First time using this camera I got a bit concerned with the picture quality. Mainly the preview you see on the built-in LCD. The pictures appear blury. However, if you zoom in, you'll see the actual picture is better...

Pentax Optio WP 5 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: compact, full of features. It's waterproof! small size, internal zoom

Weakness: It lacks an optical view finder, which can make you strain to shoot in bright sunlight, but viewfinders in many cams show 70% of the actual image, anyway.

Water sports participants will rejoice in a 5 mp cam that you can use up to 1.5 m underwater. The controls are simple, and if you spend the first week or so with the rather big manual, you'll have no trouble finding the features you use most often.

Pentax Optio WP

The Pentax Optio WP has a pleasantly fast response. The focus as well as the shutter release are very much in order with this camera. The Pentax is a nice camera with some efficient features. The Pentax Optio WP is a fast camera to work with and it's an 'easy to carry around' camera. The greatest fun of the Pentax Optio WP is the fact that it is waterproof. Pentax Optio WP

Pentax's Optio WP's sturdy plastic body and waterproof seals give peace of mind when traveling, letting users take the camera along regardless of weather or your planned activities. The WP's fully automatic exposure control performs reasonably well in a wide variety of conditions, although the camera does tend to underexpose significantly. For more difficult shooting conditions, an unusually wide...

Pentax OptioWP Digital Camera Review

The amphibious Pentax OptioWP, released this year on January 4th at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, adds to the Pentax line of small digital cameras for the point-and-shoot user. The major marketing point for the OptioWP is its waterproof abilities - it's capable of shooting in up to five feet of water. As for more traditional specs, the Pentax OptioWP has a 1/2.5-inch 5...
